Research use only
A research label, rather than confirmation that a product is approved for care.
“Research use only” is not a drug approval
As of September 28, 2026, research-labelled tesamorelin and peptide blends are not the approved tesamorelin products.
In warning letters from March and August 2026, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) told sellers that writing “research use only” did not excuse offering unapproved drugs for people to use.
Those letters set out FDA’s complaints against particular companies; they are not court rulings.
Ask for the approved drug’s full name and label.
Prescription
A medicine order issued by a doctor or another health professional who is allowed to prescribe.
A prescription medicine needs a prescription
A valid prescription must be in place before anyone supplies prescription medicine under federal law on September 26, 2026.
FDA warns about pharmacies that supply prescription medicine without asking for a prescription.
Ask who assesses you and how to ask that person questions.
Ask who is available after the medicine is supplied.
Registration
An FDA record listing, which does not establish approval of the product.
A badge cannot answer every question
As of September 26, 2026, “FDA registered” status does not establish that the product has FDA approval.
A number marked “NDC” means National Drug Code; it identifies a drug listing and does not prove FDA approval.
Get the doctor or other health professional and pharmacy names, then check their board records.
Keep any unclear product claim on your question list.
